MY NAME IS BRENDA SMITH
I grew up in Meridian, Mississippi and graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Elementary Education. I am blessed with two beautiful and sweet daughters, McKenzie and Madeline. In 2012, I remarried and moved to the coast of Alabama and now reside in Denver, Colorado. I feel very fortunate to have spent my life in beautiful places, surrounded by farmland, coastal waters and now mountain peaks. These forms of nature have truly inspired me.
How it all started...
I fell in love with making beautiful letters in grammar school and continued to pursue this passion into adulthood. In 1989, I acquired my first pointed pen - the old fashioned kind that you dip in ink - and was fascinated with how you could achieve dainty hair lines and flourishes. I immediately started creating artwork for friends and family. Quickly, word of mouth provided me with one job after another. I attended a national calligraphy convention and decided to take my love for this art to the next level. This is when Sterling Calligraphy was born... which began my full-time career.
Since then, I have had the privilege of studying with nationally and internationally renowned calligraphy instructors and developed special friendships with other professionals in the industry. I have personally produced art for hundreds of weddings and special events, working directly with stationers, brides and event planners from across the world.
Free-hand engraving on glass and metal has become an added passion since 2016. My wedding clients have enjoyed gifting custom engraved items to their wedding party and corporations utilize my services to promote products or gifts for employees. Corporate clients include Macy's, Nordstrom, Coty, Jo Malone London, Tom Ford and Guerlain. I have also had the honor of working private events engraving wine and liquor bottles as well as wine and highball glasses.
My clients and I enjoy meeting in person, on the phone, via email or zoom calls. I am so very grateful that I get to do what I love every day and feel honored to work with clients on their special events.
Sterling means "of highest quality and highest standard of excellence." This is what I strive for with every job. My goal is to understand exactly what the client has in mind and to create something beautiful they are proud to share.
